1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating a Tidl account or using tidl.ca, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Tidl. These terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Tidl (the "Service").

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes at least 30 days in advance. Continued use after that date constitutes acceptance.

2. The Service

Tidl is an income tracking, tax estimation, and financial planning tool designed for Canadians with irregular or multiple sources of income. The Service includes:

• Income logging and categorization
• Tax reserve estimation based on marginal rates
• Mileage tracking and CRA deduction calculation
• Expense tracking and categorization
• Volunteer hours and expense tracking
• Data export for accounting software
• EI eligibility estimation

3. Not Tax or Financial Advice

Always consult a qualified accountant or tax professional before filing your return. Tidl is not responsible for any taxes, penalties, or interest assessed by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) based on your use of this Service.

4. Accounts and Eligibility

To use Tidl you must:

• Be at least 18 years of age
• Provide a valid email address
• Confirm your email address before accessing the Service
• Maintain the security of your account credentials

You are responsible for all activity under your account. If you suspect unauthorized access, contact us immediately at support@tidl.ca and change your password.

5. Subscription Plans and Billing

• All prices are in Canadian dollars and exclusive of applicable taxes (GST/HST)
• Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled
• You may cancel at any time via the Stripe billing portal; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period
• We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods, except where required by applicable law
• We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days notice to existing subscribers

6. Volunteer Plan

Users who register an active volunteer organization receive Pro features at no charge for the duration of their verified volunteer status. This benefit is non-transferable and may be revoked if volunteer status cannot be verified.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use Tidl for any unlawful purpose or to violate any law or regulation
• Attempt to access another user's account or data
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service
• Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or overload the Service
• Share your account credentials with others
• Enter false or fraudulent financial information
• Circumvent any free tier limitations or subscription gates

Violation of these terms may result in immediate account suspension without refund.

8. Your Data

You own all financial data you enter into Tidl. We do not claim ownership of your income records, expense entries, or any other content you create. You grant us a limited license to store and process your data solely to provide the Service.

You are responsible for the accuracy of data you enter. Export your data regularly — we recommend downloading a CSV at least quarterly.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

Tidl is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that:

• The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure
• Tax calculations will be accurate for your specific situation
• The Service will meet all your requirements
• Data will never be lost (maintain your own backups via CSV export)

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Canadian law, Tidl's liability for any claim arising from your use of the Service is limited to the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to lost income, tax penalties, or CRA assessments.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Ontario.

12. Termination

Either party may terminate this agreement at any time. You may delete your account through the app. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. Upon termination, your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
